The Staff of Center for Creative Play
Ingrid Kanics, Senior Play Environment Specialist

Ingrid is an Occupational Therapist. She earned her Masters degree from Duquesne University. She provides support for our programs and is a member of the national consulting practice team. Ingrid is responsible for maintaining a developmentally appropriate play environment. She takes what she learns, observes, and creates in Pittsburgh and shares it with others around the country. One of Ingrid's key interests is in Sensory Integration and it results in our Sensory Adventure Camp, designing of sensory rooms, and workshops in this area. Locally, she is a member of the Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellows, focusing her project on developing supports for families who adopt children from international orphanages. She has also participated in the Jewish Healthcare Foundation/Coro Health Sciences Fellowship. Back to Top
Jennifer Boughner, Director of Resource Development

Jennifer joins CFCP with 10 years development experience in the nonprofit sector. She has worked with a variety of organizations, including Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Construction Junction, UPMC Braddock, The Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, Society for Contemporary Craft, and The Andy Warhol Museum. Her main responsibilities at CFCP consist of grants preparation and management and building relationships with key individuals, corporations, and foundations to realize CFCP's mission, vision, and goals. She shares her Victorian house in Munhall with her three cats, who love to bathe in the sun while Jennifer gardens, knits, and creates paintings. Back to Top

Heather Mediate, Director of Comunications & Business Development

As the Communications Manager for Center for Creative Play, Heather spends the majority of her time developing marketing pieces, working with local, regional, and national media, and promoting CFCP’s mission of ensuring that people understand the importance of play for all children. As the communications manager for both the Pittsburgh playspace and the national Advisory Practice she has a unique opportunity to influence a national dialogue on the importance of play. Heather is able to utilize her experience in publishing, marketing & advertising, public relations management, and youth services, everyday at CFCP. Originally from Missouri, Heather relocated to Pittsburgh in 1999. Currently, she lives in Morningside with her husband, two children, and an often crazy yellow lab named Tobey. Back to Top
Kate Reilly, Project Coordinator

Kate Reilly is the Project Coordinator at Center for Creative Play. She handles all of the marketing and registrations for CFCP’s workshops, coordinates the secret shopper component of the museum assessments, answers the website inquiries, and works at building relationships between CFCP and other organizations. Kate has a BA in Writing from Ithaca College and an MFA in Creative Writing from Chatham University. She shares her Squirrel Hill apartment with two roommates and two cats. A transplant from eastern Pennsylvania, Kate is a diehard Pirates’ fan and Pittsburgh advocate who enjoys reading, watching classic TV, and spending time outside. Back to Top
